St Anthony the Great Parish History
St Anthony the Great Orthodox Church has been serving the Hendersonville community since 2019, shortly prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The church was brought together by a small group of Orthodox Christians in need of a community. Metropolitan Gregory granted Fr. Photios to the community and blessed the new church with the patronage of St Anthony the Great. Although the community is small it has been steadily growing. About half of the parish are young children. St Anthony strives to serve Hendersonville in little ways, such as making regular donations to the local rescue mission. St Anthony has also given presentations about Orthodox Christianity to groups of curious protestants (many folks are particularly intrigued by Orthodox iconography).
